Construction SupervisorThis course focuses on the basics of management concepts and methods. Emphasis is placed on developing the first-line manager's ability to plan, organize, lead, motivate, and control in the construction environment. College credit is available. Labor HistoryAnalyzes the growth of working class movements from the Colonial era to the present. Emphasis is placed on the formation of the carpenters and building trades and their role in forging the modern trade union movement. This is a prerequisite for the Contract Administration course. College credit is available. Labor-Management RelationsThis course provides grounding in labor-management relations by analyzing worker reform movements in the U.S. from 1933 to present. Focus will include the negotiation process. This is a prerequisite for the Contract Administration course. College credit is available. Contract AdministrationAnalyzes the historical, legal, and democratic framework underlying the administration of the collective bargaining agreement. Class will participate in mock grievance and arbitration cases related to the construction industry. College credit is available. |
